VISTS Troubleshooting: Clearing Cache

Note: This Article is specific to the Virtual Interview Skills Training System (VISTS) Simulation, provided for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

When experiencing a loading issue, you may need to clear your browser's cached files and website data. This will ensure that your browser loads content directly from the VISTS website, rather than from your browser's cache.  

To clear your cache in the Google Chrome browser, please follow the steps below:

1.) you can click on the "Customize and Control Google Chrome" button in the top right hand corner of the browser window (the three vertical dots).

2.) Then click on "Settings." 

3.) From the Chrome Settings menu, scroll down until you see "Advanced Settings" and click on the downward arrow next to it, to display the Advanced Settings menu. 

4.) Click on "Clear browsing data" to open the Clear browsing data menu. 


Getting there Quickly

You can use this shortcut to get to the "Clear browsing data" menu quickly, bypassing steps 1-4: 

Copy and paste this link into your Google Chrome navigation bar: 


Then proceed to Step 5 below.


5.) ensure that ONLY "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files" are checked.

6.) make sure that the time-frame is set to "All Time" from the drop-down menu at the top of the "Clear browsing data" window.

7.) Click the "Clear data" button to clear your browser's cache.
